Strike the left plate at the marked third and you carry to a backboard that feeds the cup; mirror the contact on the right plate and you get the same result with opposite spin. The gap between plates is intentionally deceptive; hit it by accident and you bleed energy, setting up a tidy two but losing the ace. The pastel-metal finish makes edges and incidence angles easy to read, helping players learn contact geometry without instruction. Because both routes are valid, groups can alternate sides for friendly wagers, and coaches can film symmetrical drills to check stroke symmetry.
